Weight loss in your 40s is HAAAARD!!! Like, soooo h-a-r-d. I've been on a health and wellness journey for the last 2-3yrs.

For those of you that have been around here a while, you may remember I had a stroke in July 2021. It was TERRIFYING!! And, quite frankly, really took a toll on my health. I was scared to move and quickly put on 20lbs. One, because I wasn't moving and two because I was eating for comfort. Not fuel.

I've managed to make some big changes to my health that have allowed me to lose roughly 30lbs and keep it off. Some of you have recently been DM'ing me asking if I was going to share my tips and tricks, which I'm happy to do. But, please know, IMO - it's not JUST ONE THING. It's LOTS of things. And, full disclaimer = I am NOT a doctor and not sharing medical advice, rather I'm simply sharing what's helped me.

So, Here are some that have made the biggest impact in my journey:

  1. If you're 35+, I HIGHLY recommend getting your hormone levels checked. I learned that after the age of 34, women's testosterone SIGNIFICANTLY DROPS. This leads to low energy, libido and so much more. After getting my levels checked last year, I learned I was dangerously low in both testosterone and estrogen, so I've been doing HRT which has helped A LOT!

  2. Get your gut health in check!! (I took an at-home Dutch Test and worked with my doctor - https://dutchtest.com/dutch-complete) About 4yrs ago I was diagnosed with gastritis and was taking 40mg of omeprazole daily. This REALLY messed with my gut health and my body's natural ability to break down my food. I was introduced to this company Yu Beauty by a friend last year and began taking their supplements. Specifically the Probiotic/Prebiotic and Greens. Within 2 months, I was able to TOTALLY WEAN MYSELF OFF OF OMEPRAZOLE. For reference, I had tried to do this without these supplements about a year prior and ended up in the ER because I had terrible chest pain (turned out to be indigestion) and thought I was having a full-on heart attack! Since discovering and using the Probiotic and Greens, I now also added the Trimfit (for energy) and Collagen to my coffee each morning.

  3. Here's what these products do:

Protect Probiotic - overall improvement of the gut microbiome -  better digestion, nutrient absorption, cardiovascular health, antioxidant support or a sustained boost to your immune system.

Greens - support your immune system, boost antioxidants in your body, assist with improved digestion and help deliver nutrients your body craves.

Collagen -  used to promote hair, skin, and bone health. We’ve added two key ingredients to our Unflavored Collagen to help increase the benefits to your skin.

TrimFit to be that energy giver, fat burner, excess calorie avoider, and mood enhancer that you need in your life right now. To live your best day.

SUPPLEMENTS!!  I have a 'green drink' first thing every. single. morning which includes the greens (listed above), as well as the following:

Chlorophyll: helps to detox the gut. https://urlgeni.us/amazon/qk6Zr

L-Glutamine: again, helps keep my gut in check. https://urlgeni.us/amazon/dkRer

    Colostrum: helps reduce inflammation. https://urlgeni.us/amazon/1aMfG

I simply add these 4 items in a glass and mix with 4-6oz of water and chug. Mixer: https://urlgeni.us/amazon/Bb9G2

Get 7-9hrs of sleep each night. Period. Taking magnesium daily helps me so much!  I like this one:  https://urlgeni.us/amazon/JBM0b

Drink Two 40oz Tumblers of Water each day. I like to add a sugar-free Liquid IV in one of mine each morning. https://urlgeni.us/amazon/tHNlG

I REALLY try to limit my intake of gluten, dairy and sugar = these all cause inflammation.

Vitamin D - I don't get nearly enough natural vitamin D living in the midwest, so I take this VitaminD with K: https://urlgeni.us/amazon/An9HA

Lift weights. Find a good gym or trainer or YouTube Workout videos. Strong = Sexy.

Like I mentioned in the beginning, I'm not a doctor. But if I can help any of you by sharing what's helped me, this post will all be worth it :)
